Oyako Tso’s

First and foremost, this restaurant is the real deal. Exceedingly fresh fish (if you prefer sushi) wonderful cuts of meat (if you don’t eat things that swim) and great entertainment if you choose a hibachi seat. The dining experience that this restaurant provides is what other eateries should strive for: friendly, helpful and courteous staff and consistent, expertly prepared food.
This storefront certainly stands out amongst the plethora of restaurants that grace Main St. in Freehold. While not very large, it’s hard to miss. A red awning with gold Japanese symbols and hanging decorations great you as you enter the large glass doors. Be careful upon walking in because a virtual vacuum always seems to develop between the first and second sets of doors. Once inside, the restaurant is divided into two major sections. On the left are the hibachi style seats where a large group can sit, be entertained by skillful yet theatrical chefs, and eat fantastically prepared food. On the right, surrounded by a glass wall to minimize the sounds of the hibachi, are regular tables geared more toward a traditional, not so loud, dining experience. At any seat the entire range of the menu is available and the excellent part of this restaurant is: whatever you try is guaranteed to be good.
Pricing at Oyako Tso’s is moderate which makes it a popular destination for couples, families or just a casual dinner. Groups are encouraged at the hibachi seats because your party could have its own table. A sushi bar (situated in the hibachi area) allows you to experience the fresh fish and the skill of the chefs first hand. The chefs are quite sociable and every plate is a work of art.
